First Big Snow of the Season
Today was the first big snow of the season, and Chicago failed the test. That being how traffic handles the snow and how well the plows clear the streets. I took the day off from work to go shopping with a couple friends. We were out in Rockford today. One friend lives in the town next to Rockford, called Belvidere. I left her house in Belvidere at about 2:45pm this afternoon. We figured, with the snow, we'd allow 2 hours, just in case, so I could drop my other friend off at her house by 5pm. Well! We got to her house about 4:30 maybe? I can't remember the exact time. I left her house and started my long ass trip home. Normally, the drive would take 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Tonight, it took almost 2-1/2 hours. Every road I took hadn't been plowed yet, and traffic was at a dead crawl. I am so glad to be home right now. And with all this snow, maybe only 5 inches, I will have to get up at 5am, go outside at about 6am and start clearing off my car, so I can leave by 6:30 at the latest to try to get to work by 8. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday and I can dress in jeans and sneakers!
