Today at work was mostly uneventful. Except for the HUGE hot flash I had that lasted, oh about 6 hours. Guinness Book of World Records? I wish!
No, it wasn't even that exciting. Yesterday, maintenance for our building was working on the heat in our president's office (apparently it wasn't working, imagine that!) and today I was melting at my desk. I think I shed 5 pounds. When I finally complained, about 3:30pm, maintenance came right up and discovered the thermostat by my desk was set to 78F. We can't change it, so I have no idea how it got set to 78. The only thing I can think of is that if the president's heat wasn't working, the zone that my desk was in was trying to compensate for it, and we had to have maintenance put the heat up to 78 to keep us from freezing. And now that his heat works, ours doesn't need to be that high. I was threatening (and grossing everyone out) to strip down to my bra and underwear. Good thing we don't have customers come into our office, we'd have no customers left.
Winter has returned with a vengeance, snow yesterday and today, and single digit temps. I am SO ready for spring!

You all know what this is, right? It's a paper cutter. Under that handle is a very sharp blade that slices paper and fingers if you put them in the wrong place. No, I didn't cut any off. But one of my biggest pet peeves is people who use them and leave the handle UP with the blade exposed for anyone to come along and cut themselves on it. I am always putting ours down, and I haven't been able to figure out who keeps leaving it up so I can show them what to do with it when finished. This is just one of many pet peeves I have.
What are some of yours?
Wow....78 is a cooker. I'd be sweating for sure. (strip down, eh?) LOL
ReplyDeleteLeaving the handle up on a paper cutter is really dangerous. I hope no one gets cut before the culprit gets caught and gets a good reprimand.
I have too many pet peeves to list. :\
Hope tomorrow is a better day for you. *hugs*
Sorry you were having a hot flash all day! No fun. Hopefully they will fix it very quickly!
ReplyDeletePut a post it note either on or near the paper cutter. That is really dangerous!!!
My pet peeve is someone saying "if I striped to my bra and panties I'd gross everyone out".
ReplyDelete:)
You could go to a halloween costume type shop and buy an "lifelike" severed human finger with fake blood and leave it at the paper cutter... I think that would generate some reaction.
Tape a note to that paper cutter. You know, the kind you would leave for a five year old.
ReplyDeleteMy pet peeve is someone turning their car blinker on indicating they are turning AFTER they have braked and already started into the turn or up the ramp. Or better yet, no blinker at all! Oh, an tail gating. grrrrrrrr Lol don't get me started!
Hope it has cooled down in your office now. How miserable!
I agree with Deanna.... leave a note. My pet peeve... complaining about people leaving the lights on and then doing it yourself (insert husband here)
ReplyDelete78?? Oh my. I would have been dripping sweat.
ReplyDeleteA 6 hour hot flash? That's gotta be some sort of record, I agree!
ReplyDeleteWe have a paper cutter at my work too and I have the same pet peeve, come on people it's dangerous!
Nice Award!!!
ReplyDeleteThat happens in our bedroom when Matt is on the couch and he opens the window. The thermostat is in the living room and it thinks it's colder.
People who leave those up are just plain assinine. And people who leave cabinet doors open drive me batty. I have so many pet peeves, i won't bore you with the list. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award, and if you'd danced around in your bra and undies, that would have been picture/video worthy.
This time of year? Easy....anyone who insists on calling me during American Idol!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your award! I agree about that blade situation. It freaks me out. It's bad enough that we can kill ourselves just by using it, but to endanger the rest of the office after you're done? Morons.
ReplyDeleteAnd it PLEASE be spring already?! I can't handle any more 19 degree days.
OK now, time to post something witty, lol!!
