Tuesday night, as American Idol time was approaching the sky got dark, the wind picked up, and I started seeing lightning out the window. The weather men said we weren't supposed to get rain until after 10pm, but obviously no one told Mother Nature. She decided to make an appearance at 6:45pm. After the first wave, a rainbow came out and I took the following pictures. Unfortunately, they don't do them justice; They were much prettier and more colorful in person.

This one looks like a double rainbow was trying to form, although it never really did.

The rainbow went clear across the sky, if the trees hadn't been in the way, I probably could have seen it touching the ground (or appear to anyway). After no more than 10 minutes, the clouds covered the sun again, the rainbow went away and the next wave of storms came through.
It was interesting watching American Idol while not at the computer talking to others while trying to listen to the songs. I haven't done it all year, and I really got a different impression by just watching and listening and not having the distraction of others. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE talking with everyone, it was just a nice change of pace to sit there and focus just on the music, performances and the judges comments.
Needless to say, didn't EVERYONE expect a David v. David finale? This is my fifth year of watching American Idol, and I can honestly say, it's the least climactic. No one has really jumped out at me enough to make me eager for a cd after all this. Yes, I might buy one or two, but this whole season has almost seemed staged from the beginning, everything being a setup for the Cookie v. Gaspy finale. Who will win? We'll have to wait and see...

  1. Yes this season seemed very "staged" right down to the on and off playing of instruments. The judges comments seemed to be pre planned. to the point Paula flubbed one night and gave two planned comments at the same time although the contestant hadn't sang the second song yet. I totally agree it's been staged.

  2. Loved the pics of the rainbow. I can see the double rainbow in the second shot.

I kinda watched American Idol, too. Figured it would be David vs David in the finals. I guess we will see who wins next week. I thought David Cook sang a terrible version of "Dare You To Move" on Tuesday night. :\

  3. I don't know if it is staged, but I have really enjoyed this season. I don't watch the whole show, just the ending. I also wait till they are down to 4 people before I even bother watching. I can't wait to find out who wins. I'm for Cook. I have a feature on my camera dusk, sunset, cloudy. This feature allows me to take awesome pics at that time of day. When I don't use that feature I lose a lot of color. Maybe you have that feature?

  4. Hi Deb! It's a shame you only started watching when it got to the last 4... all the talent, spirit and growth was in the first 6 contestants LOL....Michael Johns, Chikezie, Carly Smithson, Brooke White were the absolute best of the season.

  5. Carnack the Magnificent holds the envelope with the question to his forehead and fearlessly predicts "David will win!" and opens the envelope and reads, "Who will win this year's American Idol?"

  7. Pretty rainbow pix. I think deb's right and if you have a dusk setting you may wanna try that next time. IF the camera's anything like mine, you'll just have to remember to hold stiller while taking the picture as the shutter speed will be slower.

AI has always been staged...at least since I started watching 4-5 years ago. The conspiracy theorists of the show will tell you that. This year was no different. We knew the one child (refrains from using the nickname because not all in here read my MySpace) was going to the finals when he wheezed his way thru Imagine (which, grudgingly, was his best performance)and we knew David C was more than likely going once he sang Hello (he simply confirmed it everyweek after that).

Im with Kerry in that Brooke, Michael, Carly and Chikezie were all quite good and I cant wait for their post Idol cds to come out. However, best of the season, not really...but that's my own personal taste too.

  8. Great pics.
I have been glued to my TV, during AI this season, staged or not. I haven't voted much this year because I have enjoyed many of the contestants and couldn't pick a favorite. I know which CD's I will buy and which ones I won't. Regardless, there was a lot more 'talent' on the stage this year than in previous years, I think.
