I walked to my left, to my parking lot and saw how flooded it was. Fortunately, my car is behind where I was standing, in a dry section of the lot.
This is my street. In the distance, you can see the cars parked because they can't get to our parking lot. The one entrance is flooded with water. Most cars were turning around or just parking in the street. I watched one car drive through, the swell in front of the car was up to the bumper.
We're expecting to get more rain tonight and into tomorrow morning due to Tropical Storm Ike. At this point, I'm not sure if I'll be able to get out tomorrow to go to my aunt's house.
Wow....I wondered if you were getting any flooding. Terri and I watched the weather channel tonight while eating supper, and it was showing some video of the flooding in the Chicago and surrounding areas. I hope you're car doesn't get flooded in the rain heading your way. Be careful out there. *hugs*
ReplyDeleteHmm... someone ought to get Captain Noah heading over your way - from the sounds of it, this is just the start of the rain - When the Ark gets there, make sure Charlie gets in with you.
ReplyDeleteStay safe, stay dry - *Hugs*
Just came across your blog. I too am from the Windy (soggy) city. I haven't posted any pictures yet of the rapidly rising water yet. (I figured I would do it tomorrow when I'm confined to the house)
ReplyDeleteMaybe we'll pass each other in a canoe. Stay dry!
Anyone remember how big a cubit is??
ReplyDeleteOh man the memories of Louisiana some of those pictures bring. Every really good soaking down there the parkinglot to the school I worked at would get flooded.
The flooding's starting already and we're not even in Winter yet. :(
ReplyDeleteHmm...
ReplyDelete* Standard cubit: elbow to end of middle finger (20").
* Lower forearm cubit: elbow to base of the hand (12").
Who knows, they may even have metric ones now. :)
"The length of the ark [shall be] three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits." - Or about half way down aisle 126 in a Super WalMart.
WOwsa looks like you got more out of Ike than I did...It barely passed us to the east! Stay safe! *hugs*
ReplyDeleteWow! Stay high and dry and out of those flooded streets!
