Tori, this is a picture of the cover of The New Yorker magazine. It has Barack Obama and his wife Michelle on the cover, standing the Oval Office of The White House. Barack is in full Muslim dress, and Michelle is in camouflage with an AK-47 on her back. In the fireplace is the US Flag, being burned, and above the fireplace is a picture of Osama bin Laden.
Not the picture I want to see. :(

ReplyDeleteThe magazine explains at the start of its news release previewing the issue: “On the cover of the July 21, 2008, issue of The New Yorker, in ‘The Politics of Fear,’ artist Barry Blitt satirizes the use of scare tactics and misinformation in the presidential election to derail Barack Obama’s campaign.”
Howard Kurtz of The Washington Post said Sunday on his CNN media show “Reliable Sources” that the cover is arguably “incendiary.”
“I talked to the editor of The New Yorker, David Remnick, who tells me this is a satire, that they are making fun of all the rumors,” Kurtz added.

I love how they soft pedaled "the cover is arguably “incendiary.”" The rumors, scare tactics, and misinformation going aruond make it just about impossible to be an informed voter.
ReplyDeleteI'm still undecided between writing in Paris Hilton's dog Tinkerbelle and an ordinary orange traffic safety cone. Either of which couldn't help but do as good a job.
