THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHICAGO HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON.
SNOW WILL BEGIN TUESDAY NIGHT AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY. THERE MAY BE SNOW DEPTH OF 6 INCHES OR MORE ACROSS NORTH CENTRAL... NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL WILL PROBABLY BE NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80 AND TO THE WISCONSIN BORDER. THE TRACK OF THE LOW MAY DETERMINE SNOW FALL ACROSS THE REGION. AREAS SOUTH OF THE KANKAKEE RIVER MAY HAVE LESS SNOW BECAUSE THE SNOW MIXED WITH RAIN AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS EVENT.

ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention both Canadian groundhogs: Wiarton Willie, Canada's most famous weather prognosticating rodent, heralded an early spring when he failed to see his shadow after being roused from his slumber early yesterday in this small Georgian Bay community.
ReplyDeleteThere may be other groundhogs in North America, but Shubenacadie Sam of Nova Scotia makes the first prediction on this continent.Sam, emerged from his pen Saturday at 7 a.m. ET to the sound of bagpipes and a town crier but no shadow, just rain and a crowd of around 50 people who began to celebrate the coming spring. "It is raining cats and dogs and groundhogs and he did not see his shadow," said Sue Penney, spokeswoman for Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park, which sits about 35 kilometres north of Halifax. "We are celebrating that winter will be over early."
Geez louise. Cant catch a break, can you? I'll take an inch or so of the stuff.
